Engraved Desk Plates and Information Signs

In the year 1991 Daniel and Diana Keesey were relocating to another city in Texas. Both would need an occupation change to accomplish this. Diana was at this time teaching visually impaired children in the public school system. Daniel’s father was a master engraver. Growing up in that environment had given Daniel years of experience with engraving. That same year federal legislation passed the ADA Law requiring all public buildings to have Tactile Braille signs with Grade 2 Braille and raised lettering for room identification. With their knowledge of Braille and engraving, Daniel and Diana formed dot 6 Services, Inc. and began manufacturing top quality Tactile ADA signs with glass raster Grade 2 Braille.

dot 6 Services, Inc.- The Name

Grade 2 Braille consists of two vertical rows of three dots the top left is #1 next down is #2 and then #3.Starting top right is #4, then #5, the bottom dot is #6. The dot #6 standing alone means that letters following are capitalized, hence, Capital Services in translation. Grade 2 Braille consists of contractions and symbols such as the number symbol.

In 1992 Dallas Community College District contracted dot 6 Services, Inc to manufacture and install 5,000 ADA Tactile Signs with Grade 2 Braille throughout eight campuses.
